Ways to Maintain Natural Hair (Type 4A, B, C)
Maintaining an healthy natural hair can be difficult at time. Today, I would guide you guys on some steps that I have tried and it has worked; or I have researched.
Water - This is the most important step. Water is a very good form of moisturizer that does not have any negative impact on the hair. It helps to detangle the tangle part of our hair. Our hair tends to get drier than straight hair, so water helps to keep the moisture. It is advised to always have a spritzer bottle with you.
Shea butter (Ori) - This is one of the most healthy natural moisturizer a woman can ask for. There are two types of Shea butter - the refined one (usually whitish), which are not as effective as the unrefined ones. The unrefined one usually come natural and does not have any added chemical in it, it usually looks yellow or brown. Shea butter helps with dry scalp and helps with easy combing.
Oil - There are a lot of oils, you can decide to use like coconut oil, castor (Jamaican) oil, virgin olive oil and so on. Oil helps to keep the hair shining because our hair tend to look dull without it. It is always good to apply this at the tip of your hair. You can also pour some oil in a spritzer bottle to have on the go.
Drying method - It is advised to air dry your hair. Hair dryer tends to damage our hair, so it better to avoid it.
Leave in conditioner - There are different brands of Leave in conditioners around now. It is advised to try and find a brand that suits your hair texture. For me, I use Garnier Coconut Oil & Cocoa Butter and it works well. It keeps my hair and easy to make.
Protective Styles - It is always good to keep your hair in protective styles cause it tends to break easily. There are different types of protective styles like Bantu, twists, cornrows, dreadlocks, braids with attachment, plaiting your natural hair and using a wig.
